Quick Digi-Sketches

Well, after I got finished with some work today.. I figured I'd go ahead & draw something up..
I know.. I know.. I know...
They're really sketchy drawings.

But I've been working on some really clean work & my hand hurts now. HAHA. I decided to post this mainly cause I can't post any work that I'm working on.. until it's published. I can't wait to be able to share it all. For now though.. here's two quick sketches! :) Enjoy!

P.S. Click on the links for the answers to those questions on my OTHER BLOG... called, Esly's Blog. :) (Still under development!)

In the middle of stuff! - Easter weekend, etc.

okay.. this isn't gonna be much of a post.. cuz I'm so darn busy. I'm so sorry. (Not that anyone comes here anymore..) but, whatever. I'll post soon. I'm working on a few projects here and there. One I'm having fun with in particular is some children's books. weee! How fun is that? I'm enjoying it. I'll enjoy it more when they're all finished.. and I get to read them in my hands, flipping through the pages.

You know one "children's book series" I used to enjoy a lot in particular were "The Bearstein Bears". I used to read them so happily as a kid over & over again. They were so colorful! Not to mention they had morals to every story that taught kids about organizing, behaving, etc. I'm sure I picked up a whole lot of my good habits from there. It made chores look like fun. haha.

Anyhow, yeah. I'm still out here in Australia. I sure do think about home a lot. I do. I browse around at all my friends blogs & look at photos... remembering all the great times I left behind. My lil' conscience is eager to go back and enjoy all of what I took for granted. Being in Disney's constant spotlight of the hundreds of people passing by. Hearing about the height of their exciting days! And the children telling you about their parent's most secretive secrets.. haha. It was a riot.

Then, you've got my little Dodge Neon that drove me from point A to point B all around town to & fro. How, I wish I had never sold it. lol. I know it's just a little car.. but it was my car.. and I had a lot of memories within it!

Then, you've got the views. Beautiful Florida...

Always a peaceful sky to look above you.. with plenty of action going on, everywhere you look! Perfect for the artist in need of silence. :)

I just recently became a children's church teacher at my church over here. The kids are great.. but I'm used to dealing with so many more. They're such a small lil' group. This isn't them.. but this was Easter after church. I had made easter eggs for the children to represent "New Life". I also made some little Easter bags with "Proverbs/Quotes" on them that spoke about "Forgiveness". I wish I would've taken photos of everything. I worked so hard on them! lol. ah-well.

Also, I think I'm overwhelmed with David's huge family over here. I really thought I'd get more time to myself being away from my family.. but hahaha... I was wrong. LOL! ;D It's not a bad thing at all.. it's just over whelming cuz there's so many of them. They're like more dramatic then my own family. uh.. well, okay.. maybe I'm exaggerating. My family exaggerates the most. ;) Here's a few of them. There were so many they got cut out.. some were outside too. This was Easter Sunday after church.

It's not just his family, it's the newbie-chores of being a wife. It's so weird! There's like double the amount of stuff that needs to be done. Being out here really makes me admire my own Mom a lot. She's always been an independant over-acheiver-do-er! Running around constantly helping people and forgetting all about herself.

Look at this.. here's a random photo I have of her among the many of her doing something for some kids she's never met at some random school. This is like her everyday at a different place everyday helping someone new everyday. That's like the story of my Mom. How cool is that?!

Anyhow, this was just a short lil' post.. with some random thoughts.

EDITED : Not Caricatures & Not Colorful.. but...

ADDED LATER....

okay.. so they went for completely black & white.. and made a few changes of the placement of the "X's" I changed it a bit to make the marks stand out more in a completely black & white scene.

OLD POST BELOW:
Not FUN Caricatures & Not TOO Colorful.. but... it was interesting to do.. all the same. Yeah.. this is for like an "Easter Scavenger Hunt" map thingy. It was such a pain to do.. cause the place isn't even done being built yet... hence, the LACK OF DETAIL in the buildings. The client wanted it to be "SUPER-SIMPLE" & "BLACK & WHITE" along with 2 xtra colors.. for cheap printing.Also.. the reference given to me was the img. you see there on the bottom right. I took the liberty of searching for it on google earth instead to help me out. It was much easier.. lemme tell you! I guess this was just good for practicin'a'lil', "PERSPECTIVE". Something I don't like doing too much of. :P
I HAD TREES & other PROPS in the Background before (thinking about the Disney maps) as I did it.. but.. like I said earlier, SIMPLE is what they wanted so I took them out. ok. that's it 4 now.

Hobart, Tasmania - Australia

Well, I went on a lovely trip to Tasmania. Boy was it cold. But it was a beautiful place! It really was! I'll try to add some more pix later. I've gotta get to work. Hopefully I'll be able to add some more pix later.

State of Victoria - Bush Fires in Australia

The photos you see here are of what I took with my cell-phone camera...
Right by where I live..

I just thought I'd share some photos on here. I've emailed most of everyone I know.. but I'll post these up for those who I don't have emails of.. or for those of you I know get too many emails.

I'm sure you've heard of all the fires going on over here in Australia on the news. Over 180 + people have died. And a ton of houses have gone up in flames.

Well, believe it or not.. they weren't far from where I'm living now. Very very close actually!

Recently there was a super EXTRRREME MEGA-HOT-DESERT-HEAT-WAVE over here that lasted for about 3 entire days! *Ouch* lol.

It was about 108 degrees Fahrenheit & about 43 degrees celcius. But it felt like 155 with no a/c! Very hard to bear!

During the time we had the 3 days of the intense desert heat wave.. David & I couldn't handle the heat (due to our a/c unit not being very good) and we headed over to his mother's house with our pets.

It's a bit of a funny story. We went over to her house cause it was cooler. While I was there... we were sitting in the living room chatting. David of course was sleeping cause he had to work later that evening to do security. But anyhow.. while David's Mom and I were in the living room..

she said:
"oh look outside! How lovely!
I think the clouds are coming and maybe
the change will come through".

I looked outside... and said
"ah, yeah.. maybe. Hey.. wait a second...
That isn't right. Why are the clouds so orange?"

So.. I went outside to take a look further in the back yard.. and I saw what was really happening! There was like an enormous fire going on! The scary part was..
the winds were super strong.. and going against us. Sort of like what I've felt in a Florida hurricane "wind strong".. but without all the rain, thunder & lightning. It was like a fast hot heater blowing in your face... or like a large hot blow dryer.

Later we could see about 7 helicopters flying close to the surface trying to save people and put out fires.

These photos are all looking out from David's Mom's backyard toward one of her neighbor's houses. The smoke later reached to the horizon of her other neigbor's house on the other side. It was crazy. The sky turned from blue to like a dark orangey & gray color.

The smell outside smelled like burning sulfer. It wasn't very pleasurable. *yuck!* It wasn't anything like a good smelling fireplace at all.

The feeling literally felt like someone was holding hot ovens on the highest heat surrounding you. If you were not under the shade.. the sun rays felt like someone was trying to burn you with a lighter to your skin. It was super hot!

I never knew heat outside could feel that hot anywhere in the world. I know hell is hotter.. I'd hate to feel anything even remotely close to that ever again! Like I said before, I'm so glad I'm saved. Praise God!

The fires have been surrounding us... in certain places. There were a whole bunch of houses & streets burning up in the area we just moved from, in Hampton Park & Narre Warren suburbs. Only 15-20 minutes away!
David had to work for this guy, this past Saturday because the guy that had to initially work.. well, his house caught on fire. I think he's okay. I don't think it was completely burnt to the ground. I guess we'll be finding out later.

Also....
I added an animation clip I found floating in my office while I've been unpacking. All I had on my website was some "animated gifs".. but here's one of the actual clips I worked on from the Adam Sandler movie, "8 Crazy Nights". You'll have to have "WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER" installed on your computer to view it. (b.t.w. this link below won't take you to my website.. but to the actual animated clip. Enjoy!)

Some sketches

This was a bad photo taken of a photo with my phone. Sorry 'bout that! But.. you get the just of it all hopefully! ;)

On this next one, the lady wanted to be driving a Cadillac. So here's how it came out. NOTICE the wheel is on the wrong side of the car.. but it's the correct side here in Australia. I totally did that by accident! lol!

A gig from a while back.

Someone just gave me this pic today from a while back.

A Hawaiian Christmas Gig.

I took these with the camera phone. (sorry for the bad quality) There were some really great ones that aren't posted here. I'm bummed that I didn't take enough photos. The others were actually dressed up in a Hawaiian type theme. I'm hoping I run into someone later, that maybe took some photos. I got a few standing ovations @ the beginning... I was like... what? lol.

This kid below was so funny.. he had so many expressions!

The last girl, I didn't take a photo of her.. well, cause I hesitate to put up really young kids up on the internet.. with all the crazies out there.. if you know what I mean. I was happy with the likeness on this one though.

Some Jimmy Pereira Work

I just thought I'd share some cool work by Jimmy. These are two of my favorite pieces of his.

This is his comments about it...
"This is a painting that I did between my first and second year in grad school. It may be somewhat abstract, but it is of Jesus (as a young boy) and his mother Mary. The inspiration for this piece was thinking about what Jesus was like as a young boy (the Bible doesn't say a whole lot about Him as a child). To think that the same arms that Jesus stretched out to embrace his mother out of love were the same ones that would be stretched out to be crucified for us (out of love) is a very sobering thought. It was done in oils and took A LONG TIME to complete. Completing this one was kind of an emotional rollercoaster and a great learning experience. If you have never read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) before, now that were in the Christmas season, now would be a great time! It will definitley deepen your realization as to what Christmas is all about and WHY and HOW Jesus was born."
If you look closely at the one above.. it says,
SOCIAL SECURITY, NATIONAL SECURITY & ETERNAL SECURITY.

Hollywood Millions!

yaay.. everything's in the works! I have a lot of work to do to catch up with "Paul Clarkson" from New Zealand & "Dale Jackson" from CA.

With the BIG move I just made into a new house.. thing's haven't been as easy to keep up with all my work. I'm still unpacking a whole lot! There's been so much work to do to the house.. and well, I've also been getting in a lot of commission work as well. All the same.. this below is fantastic! They're going to be making a website for specifically the Hollywood Celebrities. The ones I worked on are at both ends on either side below. Marilyn Monroe & Elvis on the left... John Lennon & Steve Irwin on the right. I still have a few that I've done that you don't see here.. like, Heath Ledger, Chris Farley, Leonardo DiCaprio & Dustin Hoffman. I still have 5 that I have to finish up for this set. So.. I have to go now, so I can work on them. I just thought I'd share.

side caricature work

okay.. this one was a request to do a bunch of students in a classroom with the teacher reading a book. I had to draw small versions of @ least 5 of the kids. I don't really enjoy drawing small people caricatures from photos.. but I did the best I could.
This 2nd one has a keyboard teacher with a student singing. The kid's photo.. I don't have. (sorry)

Another teacher.

I didn't really feel like scanning the photo in.. LOL! Takes too long... and I'm a little busy at the moment... the others I got thru via-email. But this one I promise you.. I did a lot better on the likeness then I did on the others. ;D hee-hee.

Below, the likeness was a bit poor on this one.. maybe I could've rounded off the head more.. rather then square it off... but I post these.. so that I can learn from myself... if not, from others. I have to live & learn, try & fail and/or succeed. Not only that but the body situation was a rip-off off of Brian Wright's. I didn't seem to do as well... as my own beach body that I regularly do. Next time.. I'll draw my own version. I have some samples, in some of my earlier posts on here. I just like trying other people's styles... Once in a while.. it's good to get out of your own comfort zone.

This last one I was very happy with. Though, in the photo.. I couldn't see the top of her head... but I managed to make it up. ;) All in all, I was happy.
