A gig from a while back.

Someone just gave me this pic today from a while back.

A Hawaiian Christmas Gig.

I took these with the camera phone. (sorry for the bad quality) There were some really great ones that aren't posted here. I'm bummed that I didn't take enough photos. The others were actually dressed up in a Hawaiian type theme. I'm hoping I run into someone later, that maybe took some photos. I got a few standing ovations @ the beginning... I was like... what? lol.

This kid below was so funny.. he had so many expressions!

The last girl, I didn't take a photo of her.. well, cause I hesitate to put up really young kids up on the internet.. with all the crazies out there.. if you know what I mean. I was happy with the likeness on this one though.

Some Jimmy Pereira Work

I just thought I'd share some cool work by Jimmy. These are two of my favorite pieces of his.

This is his comments about it...
"This is a painting that I did between my first and second year in grad school. It may be somewhat abstract, but it is of Jesus (as a young boy) and his mother Mary. The inspiration for this piece was thinking about what Jesus was like as a young boy (the Bible doesn't say a whole lot about Him as a child). To think that the same arms that Jesus stretched out to embrace his mother out of love were the same ones that would be stretched out to be crucified for us (out of love) is a very sobering thought. It was done in oils and took A LONG TIME to complete. Completing this one was kind of an emotional rollercoaster and a great learning experience. If you have never read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) before, now that were in the Christmas season, now would be a great time! It will definitley deepen your realization as to what Christmas is all about and WHY and HOW Jesus was born."
If you look closely at the one above.. it says,
SOCIAL SECURITY, NATIONAL SECURITY & ETERNAL SECURITY.

Hollywood Millions!

yaay.. everything's in the works! I have a lot of work to do to catch up with "Paul Clarkson" from New Zealand & "Dale Jackson" from CA.

With the BIG move I just made into a new house.. thing's haven't been as easy to keep up with all my work. I'm still unpacking a whole lot! There's been so much work to do to the house.. and well, I've also been getting in a lot of commission work as well. All the same.. this below is fantastic! They're going to be making a website for specifically the Hollywood Celebrities. The ones I worked on are at both ends on either side below. Marilyn Monroe & Elvis on the left... John Lennon & Steve Irwin on the right. I still have a few that I've done that you don't see here.. like, Heath Ledger, Chris Farley, Leonardo DiCaprio & Dustin Hoffman. I still have 5 that I have to finish up for this set. So.. I have to go now, so I can work on them. I just thought I'd share.

side caricature work

okay.. this one was a request to do a bunch of students in a classroom with the teacher reading a book. I had to draw small versions of @ least 5 of the kids. I don't really enjoy drawing small people caricatures from photos.. but I did the best I could.
This 2nd one has a keyboard teacher with a student singing. The kid's photo.. I don't have. (sorry)

Another teacher.

I didn't really feel like scanning the photo in.. LOL! Takes too long... and I'm a little busy at the moment... the others I got thru via-email. But this one I promise you.. I did a lot better on the likeness then I did on the others. ;D hee-hee.

Below, the likeness was a bit poor on this one.. maybe I could've rounded off the head more.. rather then square it off... but I post these.. so that I can learn from myself... if not, from others. I have to live & learn, try & fail and/or succeed. Not only that but the body situation was a rip-off off of Brian Wright's. I didn't seem to do as well... as my own beach body that I regularly do. Next time.. I'll draw my own version. I have some samples, in some of my earlier posts on here. I just like trying other people's styles... Once in a while.. it's good to get out of your own comfort zone.

This last one I was very happy with. Though, in the photo.. I couldn't see the top of her head... but I managed to make it up. ;) All in all, I was happy.

A 40th b-day gig.

Here's a gig I did a while back ago.. for a 40th birthday of someone's. The main thing that I remember was the EXTREEEEEME-ly LOUD karaoke music that was being blasted next to my ear drum. I thought I'd never hear again! Now, I thought David had taken a lot more photos then the 3 you see here.. but apparantly.. those were other people taking photographs.. lol.

A couple commission

Here's one I did recently. The photos r there just so u can see what they looked like. It was for a wedding photo album. I was almost pleased with this one.. but I saw a lot of my flaws later on. The important thing was that the customer liked it. :)

NCN Convention 2008 - North Carolina

Here's a inside look at the NCN Convention. I obviously couldn't attend.. cause of my distance at the moment. But it was nice for someone to make out a little video of it. I learned of this video off the Tom Richmond blog.

Generally at this convention, there are seminars and workshops on caricature theory, digital illustration, freelance illustration, drawing techniques, exaggeration and even the legal issues that concern caricaturists like “right of publicity” and “The Orphan Works Act”. It's a place of VERY good Resources for any artist. Wish I would have been able to visit.

The Last Two of the Six.

This video I made below was directed specifically for the (DISNEY - caricature connection crew) "CC-BLOG" (which is set to private).

But I figured, since I'm talking about "John Lennon" and "Heath Ledger" caricatures... for W.O.T.M. I'd post it here too. That way I could share some of the work that I did with others who may have an "interest in drawing" but - who do not work at "cc".

VIDEO:Small Talk, Overview of John Lennon & Heath Ledger

Eventually, I will share ALL OF THE WORK I did for them, here on my blog.. but I'll wait till it's at least been publlished.

P.S.
I hope all you artists are having fun at the "NCN" Convention!!!! I wish I could be there!!!! :(

P.S.S.
Thanks sooooooooooooo much Terri a.k.a. (ANIMATOR HEAVEN) !!!! For blessing me with the Adobe CS3 program package!!! I STILL can't believe you sent it to me straight from Adobe free of charge. What an ENORMOUS gift!

Organizing & Reminiscing as I open boxes I haven't opened in like forever since about 3 yrs. ago! I'll have to take some pictures soon and post them. But there's a lot to do! Especially with a housewarming party coming up for about 70 people!!!! *Yikes* That means... a whole lot of cooking is gonna be going on!

Also.. I need to catch up with work. I don't even know if my clients still remember me! I'm a bit behind! :P

So, for me this is a HUGE trial... As most of you know.. I'm a computer head.. it's like attached to me, in a strange way. lol! But ah-well... such is life. I'll be online soon enough again. So, if I haven't emailed you in a while.. you know why. See you soon on cyberspace!!!! signing off... Esly.

She has been amazingly blessed with her talent. Check it out. She also has a website you can check out here.....www.artakiane.com

LOTS OF OLD ONES....

Yeah.. like I titled it.. these are all old ones I found scattered about in files on my computer... that I MEANT to post but never got around to it! LOL.

I actually don't like many of them too much.. As, I see a ton of flaws in probably the majority of them! ALL THE SMILES LOOK THE SAME TO ME. UGH! I really get annoyed at that.

You live & learn I guess! You can only get better.. as you practice. But, like most artists do about their work... I'm my own worst critic. But I'll share them anyway.

So.. enjoy!

I noticed.. I always make people look happier then they are... hee~hee... I guess it's sort of a trademark I guess. :P

Below.. is another Tim. One cool thing about working with other artists.. is being able to draw them again & again.. but each time in a different way. You can probably find a few others on this blog of him where I drew him completely different.

Everyone's favorite color was blue... including the surfer girl near the end of this post. I love blue too! It's my favorite color. This blue paint (the darker blue in these drawings)is specifically called, Aquamarine Blue. I love it! It's so bright. :)

I should'of drawn this lady on the phone. blah,blah,blah.. For some reason.. girls/ladies always tend to lean on getting a mermaid drawing though. :P

Yeah.. I know I posted it twice. So you could see the kid's eyes in the 1st one better.. and in the second one.. you can see the drawing better. I couldn't decide which to put up.. so I posted them both. I know.. crazy me!

It's so interesting to see how the brightness of colors on your paper as well as your clothing all vary depending on the environment you are in. Florida is such a BRIGHT state! I've noticed that here in Australia.. it's just so dim in comparison. Even THEIR sunshine state here called, "Queensland" has an abundance of dimmer skies then that of Florida's sunshine state.

Sorry this one is such a dark photo.. it was obviously night-time here.

This little girl was soooo absorbed in reading Keelan's (boss from Orlando) "LEARN TO DRAW CARICATURES" book... which you can get @ amazon.com.
"Let's Toon Caricatures"
I learned a lot from it when I 1st started. I highly recommend it.. if you want to learn how yourself. :)

Fun british couple! lol. :D

Another view from behind.

okay.. yeah.. this one below of me.. was taken by Tim (my old co-worker) I wasn't posing for this one.. and YES.. that is an EXTREME outfit.. that you would NEVER see me in.. in public OUTSIDE of Disney's Animal Kingdom Themepark! They stuck a gun to my head to convince me to wear this! lol. (I'm totally just kidding) But, for real.. IN ALL HONESTY... if your makin' good dough.. it sorta makes you humble yourself to humility & embarrasment in this case... and in all aspects you somehow become able to wear an outfit like the one below. lol :D

These last two were taken with my phone... so, they're not very good photos. But you get the just of it. Right?

This kid below, Blake.. was a natural animated "bloke" as they would say here in Australia. ;)

This guy was apparently part of a rap group.. called, "Boyz in the Hood". I think he said they were a new rendition of the old group from the late 80's early 90's. I don't know if that was true.. but he wanted his pic taken with me. Weird.. it's usually the other way around. lol.

After lookin' at all of these.. I just have to say.. MANNNNN.. I miss my job!!!! in Florida!!!!! :( When you're working there... it doesn't really feel like that. But when you're without it.. sheesh!!! It just really hits home in your heart.. and ya miss it bunches!!!! I'm totally okay with where I am now.. and believe God has me here for His purposes.. but I'm tellin' ya, it's a killer to the flesh! If you're living for God spiritually, you'll understand what I mean by that. Anyhow... those are my thoughts. I figured I'd post a bunch of stuff.. so you people out there have more to look at to entertain yourself with. Till the next post.. I'll c-ya later! :D

The Golden Gals

Yesterday.. I was flicking the channels around... while I was taking a break from doing freelance stuff, I was flicking the channels around & decided to take a stab at drawing the golden ladies. I was totally just messin' around.

Then, I remembered an old co-worker of mine, Ted/Keelan's right hand man & my boss from Orlando, (how he took a drawing of his and colored it on the computer..) So.. that's what I did. I like the look cuz it's as if it's popping off of the paper. It was fun too.

Kids from Flinder's Christian School.

okay.. here's a few black & whites I forgot to post. I can't seme to find the photos of the original subjects.. (sorry 4 that) But.. here are the drawings anyways.
